one. What's going on, everybody, and welcome to the second full-length episode of the Green Check Guys podcast. I'm your host, the one, the only Charleston Payne, alongside the one, the only the GOAT, one of my best friends in the entire world, one of the coolest guys I've ever met in my life. So thankful to have him by my side over here on the left because you could see that, like we mentioned in the last episode episode, mr jonathan, my essay yeah, absolutely, son.
Speaker 2:I'm excited to be back, uh, behind the mics. I'm excited to give you all some hot takes. We got a lot of good stuff going on in the sports world right now. I'm excited to be behind the camera. You know what I mean not behind the camera, but in front of the camera, um, excited to get recording and stuff. I know this can be a big piece uh to what we're trying to do here.
Speaker 1:So I'm excited. This is awesome. Unfortunately, we had to miss an episode last week due to some sickness within both of our families. I agree, and family comes first at all times throughout this. I hope you guys understand that. Very sorry, we missed an episode. We'll do our best to stay on track.
Speaker 2:No-transcript on you guys as soon as we're able to yeah, absolutely probably will be like sunday, tomorrow, tomorrow morning or tomorrow afternoon, doesn't matter, we're gonna have it out.
Speaker 1:It'll be out as soon as possible, but thank you, guys so much if you're listening. Thank you so much for tuning in. Our instagram is at green. Check guys on ig. Go give that a follow if you don't mind. Jono, give me a point to where you want to place it over here towards me, if you don't mind.
Speaker 2:Yeah, let's go right here, right there, right there in the middle of max holloway all right, we're gonna put it right on.
Speaker 1:Max holloway also got a little cool addition to the wall right yeah, one thing we're gonna add. We have a joe burrow poster that shout out to co-host of my other podcast outside the octagon. Shout out to jude jude brought us in the joe burrow poster oh yeah, it's awesome. It's, it's incredible. I just gotta find a frame that's the right size. I'm probably gonna measure it this week and have it up for the next episode for you guys to be able to see but we got some pretty dope posters in.
Speaker 1:Like I said, follow our ig at green check guys. Jono pointed it up there already, so you're going to be able to see it there where it was. Thank you so much for tuning in, and before we really get into some of the topics I want to talk about, I'm legally 21 jono is legally 21 been had for a while. I finally made it there and let me tell you something the green check guys cooked the other night yes, we absolutely ate, man look look so.
Speaker 1:So what's gonna happen from this point forward? I? I don't know about you, jono, but speaking for myself, I'm feeling hot bro I'm telling you, I'm feeling like we're on a heater. We are gonna get on a heater and what we're gonna do is we're gonna give these people out here listening. We're gonna give them a free pick a week, you think our, our three picks.
Speaker 2:That's what I'm thinking, our three picks.
Speaker 1:We give three picks per week each of us. It's going to be on separate days, separate games. We're not really going to build a parlay, Okay, Just because I think we should give a straight pick a day for six days. Take one day off. I give a pick one day, you give a pick one day. Okay, just I agree and we'll post it on our Instagram story, so if you're not following us on Instagram, you miss out on a free pick. I agree and I promise you guaranteed to make money.
Speaker 2:And we're going to have the odds on our Instagram. We'll let you know what they are on FanDuel and DraftKings Right.
Speaker 1:We'll list it out for you guys.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we'll list it out for you what they are before the game starts back to what what I was talking about.
Speaker 1:Jono and I, god son, we're dogs, we cooked that. We're dogs. We cooked that. Dogs, dude, I wish I had the sound bite, bro. I might have to put the sound bite in there you might have to like like. You know what I'm talking about. It's like, uh, they're naming all like the running back so and so dog, and he's like linebacker dog.
Speaker 2:John O and Charlie bro dog.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we're dogs, bro. Yeah, we absolutely look, we cooked.
Speaker 2:And I'm sorry so.
Speaker 1:Charlie and I went on. I'm going on a rant about us cooking.
Speaker 2:We cooked. That was incredible. We went three picks apiece for the first game Celtics Pacers in Boston. We went three picks apiece and we're just sitting there and we're like dude, let's do it, let's go in three picks together and let's see what happens. So we have a six-leg parlay. We're excited. We got some good players. We had Pascal Siakam, we had Halliburton, halliburton, we had. Which other player did we have? Miles Turner? Which other player did we have Miles Turner, miles Turner. And then we had the over. Over on points, over on points. Do we have anybody from Boston?
Speaker 2:I thought we did I think we had Tatum Rebounds. Tatum Rebounds is what it was Tatum.
Speaker 1:Rebounds. So it was a six-leg complete parlay at plus 2,300 odds.
Speaker 2:Yeah, well, mine was at plus 2,500. Yeah.
Speaker 1:Because when. When I took it, the odds had changed he took Pascal Siakam to have over 20 and a half and I had Pascal Siakam over 19 and a half when he took it.
Speaker 2:it went down. I called him.
Speaker 1:When I hit and I knew I was hit like I knew I was safe Pascal was sitting right at 20, and he just needed a half a point. I was like dude Pascal is about to shoot.
Speaker 2:And the over hadn't hit yet.
Speaker 1:I said Pascal is going and it's going to cover our over. He didn't dunk it, but he got the mini and he covered Jono's bet and the over in the same shot With five minutes left to go in the fourth, with like four or five minutes left to go in the fourth.
Speaker 2:How much fun was that we cashed out before the game was over.
Speaker 1:I really wish we could have been together watching that game.
Speaker 2:That would have been awesome.
Speaker 1:It would have been awesome to have the camera for a live reaction.
Speaker 1:It would have been awesome to have the camera for a live reaction, especially right there. In the end, whenever I hit and I knew I was clear versus you because, dude, we were nowhere near each other. I was back in my hometown and he was out here in Baton Rouge and stuff, but we're nowhere near each other and I'm on the phone with him. I'm like, dude, I'm nervous for you, but Pascal's really about to dunk that ball and you're going to be good and and Pascal took over at the end of that game.
Speaker 1:He really did Because he finished with like 26 or 27. Yeah, he finished pretty solid.
Speaker 2:He really did.
Speaker 1:And I'm not really like me personally. I watch the NBA during the regular season, but I'm kind of more or less an NBA casual in a sense. When the playoffs comes, I'm locked in.
Speaker 2:I watch a ton of NBA. I watch a ton of NBA.
Speaker 1:John, if there's an NBA pick out there.
Speaker 2:John's your guy. I promise you, I'm telling you, I watch so much basketball. I watch so much basketball and it's I don't know. I just it's awesome, it really is. So we'll have a few NBA picks coming for you on the next couple weeks, especially when the finals start to heat up.
Speaker 1:Yeah, what do you think about that? The six picks a week.
Speaker 2:I like that, I really do. I think it's cool, bro.
Speaker 1:I think it gives the people that are listening. I think it gives them a chance to not only interact with us but possibly profit with and through us.
Speaker 2:Now we aren't great. That's not to say that we haven't missed plenty, but I mean dude, it's betting, it's a gamble.
Speaker 1:A gamble's a risk, no matter how you look at it like you. You might take a team that's minus 1800 on money line.
Speaker 1:They're still and they shit the bed, bro, like they lose, it's, even if it's a college level, it's still a professionalized sport. So to say, right, like, like, these guys are all at the next level, like it don't matter if. If lsu football is playing troy, if, like, we could use that as an example. Everybody's like, oh, lsu's gonna blow troy out, troy comes in and beats us. Yeah, you know why? Because these guys are all on a higher level. It doesn't matter how you look at it, they're all d1 football yeah, even the, even the small d1 schools, they're all.
Speaker 1:They're all d1 football players yeah, I mean people disrespect them and stomp on them. But like if you made it to d1, bro, I'll put you on a way higher pedestal than what I put myself on.
Speaker 2:I'm sitting here talking about you guys that are being and troy troy's probably the best team in the fun belt, oh yeah oh yeah the fun.
Speaker 1:You see how I did that. I like that.
Speaker 2:No, the fun that was pretty punny, yeah. What do you think about that?
Speaker 1:that's a good one, bro, but no, but no man, I mean ULF, yet's up there in the front bell too.
Speaker 2:Yeah, ul is Because they were ranked not that long ago. Yeah.
Speaker 1:When Billy Napier was there, the greatest college football coach of all time. It's going to happen.
Speaker 2:Charlie wanted Billy Napier to come to LSU, so badly so badly. I was begging for it. I just don't think he would have panned out. The reason he's not panning out.
Speaker 1:He struggled at Florida. You know why. I'll tell you why. I'll tell you exactly why he's struggling at Florida, why, how many different head coaches have been named at Florida in the last?
Speaker 2:20 years, yeah plenty. Do you remember who the last Florida coach was?
Speaker 1:Dude, I couldn't tell you there's been 10 of them, that I remember it was Dan Mullen. Dan Mullen was the last one yeah. They fired him too early. Every single coach that Florida's had recently has been fired too soon before you give them a chance, because when you think about it, bro?
Speaker 2:Everybody at Florida wants them to be top level as soon as that new coach comes in as soon as the new coach comes in. They expect too much.
Speaker 1:That's why I'm not disrespecting Brian Kelly as hard as some people are, as hard as you want to, as hard as some people are as hard as you want to.
Speaker 2:I'm not a fan of him, but I honestly want him to be bad because I wanted Billy Dapier that bad, but no man.
Speaker 1:When you look at it, if you're giving these guys at Florida, they come in, they get two years under their belt and then they're fired. What does that show recruits? That makes recruits not want to show up, because there's a consistent level. There's consistency there of coaches coming in and walking right back out the door before their four-year tenure is even up. So at that point you're firing coaches that fast, you lose recruits, Right.
Speaker 2:Yeah, well, I mean that's why Harbaugh worked so well at Michigan, I mean because he was there for a little while.
Speaker 1:You give him time. That's what you have to do. I promise you. At the point I'll start disrespecting. Brian Kelly is at the end of next football season, at the end of the 2025 football season, if we still haven't made a playoff, especially with the playoff expanding to 12 teams if we still haven't made a playoff by then. It's time to get a little upset, for right now, this dude he's produced a Heisman-winning quarterback.
Speaker 1:We've had three Heisman winning quarterback right. We've had three Heisman winners ever previous to Joe Burrow. The last one was Billy Cannon and back 1958, tommy anybody listening to this podcast probably cannot name it. Cannot name, it, cannot remember Billy Cannon or Tommy Casanova. Tommy Casanova didn't win the Heisman he's up there, his numbers retired.
Speaker 2:His numbers retired. He wasn't no Heisman winner though. He's also, or is it, billy Cannon.
Speaker 1:Billy Cannon was the only Heisman winner other than Joe Burrow and Jaden Daniels, and that was 1958.
Speaker 2:Didn't Casanova get his Heisman taken, though I don't? Think so Because if I remember correctly, he was in prison for something or in jail for something, or was it billy cannon? It was tommy castanova or billy cannon. They were in jail for something because I know there's a book.
Speaker 2:Have you ever? Have you ever seen a book it's called it never rains in desert valley? You've probably never seen it. I haven't. I haven't anyways. In the book they're talking about I think it's tommy castanova. Tommy castanova's in jail for for embezzlement or fraud or some type of deal. That sounds like Billy Cannon to me. It might be Billy Cannon I don't remember who it was, but I'll have to double-check that but one of those guys is in jail for something. I don't know what it is. Yeah, but outside of Joe Burrow and Jaden Daniels, Brian Kelly. He's doing a great job, I mean he's doing incredible, bro.
Speaker 1:He's already produced a Heisman winning quarterback. He's had two seasons back-to-back with three losses. You can't really ask much more out of a coach that, previous to this, had never been to the state of Louisiana.
Speaker 2:so he says no, I told you the story of when I met him. Yeah, I met him. He was at the UPS right in front of the union. He walks out, he's about to cross the street and he's standing there. I'm walking one of my friends and I'm like dude, he looks familiar. I'm like why does this guy look so familiar? We walk up next to him and he looks at me with those icy blue eyes and I'm shocked it's Brian Kelly. I was like how you doing, coach? He goes good, young man, how are you?
Speaker 1:and I'm like he called you young man.
Speaker 2:Yeah, what a yankee bro, he goes, he goes, he goes. Well, he was like how are you? And I was like it's cold as shit, like I'm freezing. He was like. He was like man, this ain't nothing compared to south bend south bend way colder than this. And I was like yeah, I bet it is.
Speaker 1:That's the. That's as far south as you've ever been, though, like yeah at that point I don't. Even when you met him, I don't think he'd experienced the louisiana summer.
Speaker 2:Yet he hadn't, he hadn't been in baton rouge.
Speaker 1:But like a week or two, yeah, so like at this point, at this point now, like he knows what that summer heat's like and it ain't got shit on south ben. He ain't never been hot. No, I promise you.
Speaker 2:Last season was a tough season for brian kelly.
Speaker 1:You know, I think, uh, I think kade and I might have been having a conversation about you and him having a conversation the other day that was like that was like a lot of conversation about conversation right there right but kade and I think we're talking. It was me and somebody it's either me and kate or me and jude talking about. They had a conversation with you about like the heat here compared to the heat where you're from in El Paso. It's the stickiness of the heat here.
Speaker 2:with the humidity In El Paso, you can get under a tree and cool off.
Speaker 1:Catch a little bit of breeze and you're good.
Speaker 2:It's not humid, it's completely dry. Here. You can't do none of that. You need the wind to blow.
Speaker 1:If you're under a tree, you're probably going to be more hot.
Speaker 2:It's miserable under a tree. You're probably gonna be more hot.
Speaker 1:It's just, it, just because if you get, if you get under a tree, all you do is just stay hot and get pissed off down here you get mad. Yeah, it's like I mean, am I lying, bro? No, like for the people that listen to this podcast that have not been to louisiana or have not experienced the louisiana hot ass summer. Oh my god, dude, dude, what is it? May may 25th right now. At the time of us recording this, it was like almost 100 degrees today.
Speaker 1:Yeah it was hot, I had to take boxes out at work and it was not fun yeah, I mean I had to take one little bag out and I was about to die, bro.
Speaker 2:Yeah I was sweating like, like, like what.
Speaker 1:Like a 20 second walk to the dumpster ridiculous that. And I'm literally walking back in with sweat pouring off of me already, I don't know. And then not having ac in my freaking car is killing me. That's not really like a sports talk or anything, but I mean it's a sports car, so I guess we can consider it that oh yeah, shout out to tiger paul as well.
Speaker 1:Shout out, tiger paul. Daiquiris, tiger paul, take a visit. Incredible job. It's right there, next to lsu, right off of nicholson, connected to the go tiger mark gas station. A little. It's right there, next to LSU, right off of Nicholson, connected to the Go Tiger Mark gas station, the little Chevron. Right there off Nicholson. You kind of go a little bit past Brightside and Lee. When you pass that up, it's going to be right there on your left. Great daiquiris, great people, great times. Go give them a shot. I mean Good stuff, freaking awesome man Speak of?
Speaker 2:who do you think is going to win the finals, the finals. So we were just on basketball.
Speaker 1:We were on basketball. I think, look, I'll be honest, look, I'm going to tell you right now, ty is going to love this shit. If he ever listens. I think the Wolves are going to win that shit. I think the Wolves are going to win that shit?
Speaker 2:I think Anthony Edwards.
Speaker 1:I think he's taken every single little smidgen of KG's little bit of shine that he had in Minnesota. I think he's taken that. Look at my shoe Stomping that shit out. Boy, I'm telling you, I think Anthony Edwards is taking all the shine away from kevin garnett. I think he's going to win a finals this year and I wouldn't be surprised to see him go next year either that's a very crazy I want to see.
Speaker 2:I want to see the wolves win, but down to about to go to dallas, luca is kicking everybody's ass. It's ridiculous. I mean it really is. I mean it's just a different level of basketball. And I was watching, uh, alan iverson. He's talking on some podcast, right, he's like talking about luca and, um, he's like luca's slow and I'm like I mean what? And then he goes, luca's slow, but he, he plays at his own pace like nobody can. Nobody can hang because everybody's expecting fast basketball and I mean they don't get it.
Speaker 1:I'm about to do something crazy right here.
Speaker 2:Oh Lord.
Speaker 1:Listen, Luka gives guys that are built like me hope, Hope and plenty of it. Okay, Look at that dude. That was smooth getting the mic right back down while I was going down and still talking.
Speaker 2:That was kind of nice, he does, he does, he does Look, he looks so unathletic, but his handles are so good. His passing ability is ridiculous. He can shoot amazing and he can finish through any type of contact.
Speaker 1:He's crazy, bro. I remember the first time I heard people like start talking about luca and I like look into the guy. I'm like the dude that looks like that is the guy y'all are talking about right now. Crazy, you mean to tell me the guy that looks like that is somebody that's in contention for being the best hooper in the nba right now. Like there's no way.
Speaker 2:And then you start watching him and you see and you're like it's crazy because, like him, because him and Anthony Edwards I feel like it's kind of a hot take on the same level in terms of what they can do, but I feel like Luka's just so much more efficient than Anthony. Don't get me wrong, I love Anthony Edwards. I'm a huge Anthony Edwards fan, but Luka can just do it on a better level and he does it without needing to fly past people. He just does it. It's the most casual type of basketball I've ever seen.
Speaker 1:Dude, he literally looks like he's gonna walk on the court and pick up a ball for the first time he strolls.
Speaker 2:That's what it looks like.
Speaker 1:He strolls down the court all the time he just looks like he's just average and the next thing you know he just got that strap.
Speaker 2:Yeah, like he just strolls down the court bouncing ball you know what I mean Dribbling the rock and then, out of nowhere, boom behind the back pass. Behind the back pass, just lays up Easy, easy, or boom, pulls up from three, or gives a little burst of speed, pulls up from the midrange, finishes through three fouls, like what?
Speaker 1:And I just it just through three fouls, like what. And I just it's a different, I just don't understand it. And another thing, like you had just mentioned, bro has the nastiest pass package in the nba.
Speaker 1:Oh my god dude, I've seen luca like go up do a 360 like he's doing a layup and in the middle of his 360, just right there and pj washington, of all people bank, three wide, wide open. Bro. Nobody's there. You know why? Because they crash into guard. Luka, because he's so good at doing any type of layup ever even seen by mankind that you have to come in whenever he's going to the hoop.
Speaker 2:And then you put him with Kyrie Irving. It's just unfair, kyrie's able to make great passes too. But Kyrie, more importantly, is a great scorer. His handles are out of this world. One of the best ball handlers.
Speaker 1:I mean, I've never seen that Uncle Drew dude have you seen the movie?
Speaker 2:I've seen parts of it, yeah dude, that movie was awesome, bro.
Speaker 1:That was what I saw it in theaters, like I was so hyped for it to come out.
Speaker 2:Yeah, before Kyrie got into saying all that shit.
Speaker 1:He said like the flat air shit and the those people, yeah, talking about them.
Speaker 2:I understand, but I mean I really like the Mavs, I want the Wolves to win.
Speaker 1:I really do. I want them to bro.
Speaker 2:And who comes out of the East, celtics or Pacers? Pacers down 2-0. Same as Ant, but also the Pacers are without. Halliburton Got injured in the last game. Yeah, I think automatically the Celtics got that.
Speaker 1:Unfortunately Might be a sweep. They might need to bust out the brooms in Boston.
Speaker 2:They might need to, unfortunately, which is very sad man, I don't want to see Boston win.
Speaker 1:First of all, I thought the Pacers had game one. They should have had game one and then Jalen Brown, just Dude, and I friggin' hate Jalen Brown.
Speaker 2:Siakam needs to go up and contest. Look, I think Siakam needs to go up and contest that, or foul him on the floor. So it's two free throws.
Speaker 1:Dude. First of all, Siakam looked like he shit himself. Have you seen the pictures?
Speaker 2:Yes, Like the courtside photos? Yes. He's like grabbing, like His hands are behind his back, letting Jalen Brown just rise up. Look, we're not pro basketball players by any means, but if I was Pascal Siakam, I'd have fouled Jalen Brown on the floor. So he gets two free throws. You guys are up by three.
Speaker 1:That's the way I play, too, k. You know that.
Speaker 2:With 10 seconds to go less than that. You know what I mean. Foul him, get the ball back. Boston's going to foul you, shoot your free throws and go up by either three again or by two. You know what I mean. I mean there's minimal time left. I just don't understand Siakam's thought process behind not either going up to try and block the shot and foul him and make him shoot all three free throws. Boston wasn't shooting free throws. Great that game. You know what I mean. I think Siakam could have done a little better. I thought Indiana should have won that first game too.
Speaker 1:I was waiting on you to finish because I got one thing to say what To solve that problem? What Siakam's a center in the NBA? Jalen Brown is a three guy.
Speaker 2:Siakam's, not their center, though.
Speaker 1:He can play center or the four spot.
Speaker 2:Power forward. Miles Turner is the center for Indiana, I mean.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but Pascal could kind of swap him out, you know, right, like when Turner's not on the floor.
Speaker 2:Pascal's playing center, siakam, is athletic enough.
Speaker 1:What I'm saying is he's got plenty of height advantage already over Jalen Brown, so all you really have to do is this Stick your hands in the air, that's all it is, because you already have the height advantage on him, so he's already going to have to jump to be able to see over you. And then, whenever he jumps and goes to pull at the point you're in the air you have to shoot. All you have to do from here is just a little boom, and nine times out of ten you're probably going to block that shot. If you're as big as Pascal Siakam, right. And if you don't block the shot nine times out of ten, it's going to be an air ball, or barely touch run.
Speaker 2:You know what's crazy? When you talked about the pictures, Siakam was there on defense, All over it. He was all over it and for some reason he bails it kind of it makes me feel like he threw it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, like that's what I was gonna say.
Speaker 2:He threw it it makes me feel like that. I don't think he did. I just I don't think he did. See, occam has not been in that position many times, you know what I mean? Hey, I mean he was in toronto, or was it toronto? The trailblazer where was? Yeah, I think he was in toronto. I think he was in Toronto before. I think, he was in Toronto and I mean the Raptors haven't been a big part of the playoffs.
Speaker 1:You know what I mean it's over the one year. That they randomly won the finals. Right, exactly Because Kawhi hit the craziest three I've ever seen in my life.
Speaker 2:Yeah, kawhi hit that crazy three, but I don't even think Siakam was a part of that team. Because Siakam was a part of that team, because Siakam went to New Mexico State, which is near El Paso. Siakam went to New Mexico State and Siakam's not that old. That's what people don't understand. I think Siakam's 24, maybe 25. I mean, he's not old, he's not. I don't know if he was around when Kawhi Leonard. If he was, I don't think he was on the floor. I really don't. So Siakam doesn't know how to play that playoff ball. I mean, he was all over that defensively. He just needs to go up and contest that, make Jalen Brown shoot the free throws or foul him on the floor or do something and Indiana wins that game. Just do something, but accept, put your hands behind your back.
Speaker 1:I mean, bro, you see me, it pisses you off more than anything in the world when I'm up three on you playing 2K and I foul you on the floor Absolutely. You know I do that every single time, absolutely.
Speaker 2:If I'm winning by any amount, I'm fouling you and making you shoot free throws, which he never wins.
Speaker 1:Cap bro, hardcore cap, Not saying I win all the time. We do get out. On 2k we're probably 50, 50 we do get, I'll tell you this much. On mlb, the show 22, I beat him probably 95 of the time. Mlb the show 23 comes around, it's about 51, 49 jono. And MLB 24 comes around. This dude hasn't touched MLB since the last time I did because he made me delete the shit because he started winning too much. And this is not something I ever admit to him. I'm just doing it on the podcast and he's going to never shut up about this, so you probably won't hear from him again after this episode.
Speaker 2:Yeah, Charlie's not happy about that. We haven't touched mlb in so long mlb 24 I still haven't downloaded.
Speaker 1:He's all he comes over all the time. Man like like sitting right here after the podcast, like I'm willing to bet anybody watching this my savings right now.
Speaker 2:I'll just say after the podcast be like charlie, can we play some mlb?
Speaker 1:no, no, I don't feel like no shot, I don't. He's got me on mlb, the show 24 right now, probably like 80-20, bro, pretty bad, like I've probably won like four games and we probably played 20.
Speaker 2:And I used to just do the traditional batting, but once you got me starting to do the PCI, and we both switched it up so we could be on harder shit. We both switched it up on harder shit.
Speaker 1:And he ends up just every time. I throw it, bro, it don't matter where it's at. This dude is going to launch it Like.
Speaker 2:I put up 10 runs.
Speaker 1:I put up 10 runs on him. The last time we played I put up 10 runs. The final score in the sixth inning, when I decided to quit after I was up 10-3,. I decided to quit when the score was 20-10. After I gave up like four grand slams. I gave up like four grand slams, dude, like like four grand slams, like, oh my god, I don't even like thinking about it, bro. It just it puts me in like a different area of my life.
Speaker 2:Like it just you know, like you feel like you hit rock bottom that was charlie, I feel like I was there that night that was charlie, and every time I think about it, she's like damn bro, did that really happen to me?
Speaker 1:I can't believe that happened, but it was a rough watch. Speaking of baseball.
Speaker 2:The Astros got their ass kicked today. Shut up.
Speaker 1:I'm not gonna say it Shut up, dude, I'm trying to keep it a little closer to Spencer Arigati he's dog Dude, he's not a starter.
Speaker 2:That Spencer Arigetti Dude, he's dog Dude, he's not a starter. That's the sad part, he's not a starter. And remember I told you today at work is what's crazy is the Astros minor league team, the Sugarland Space Cowboys. They play the Padres minor league team in El Paso, the El Paso Chihuahuas, and I went to the game. Remember I FaceTimed you. First of all, they were all bitches, they were not cool. First of all, the Sugarland Space Cowboys are not cool.
Speaker 1:And I'm an Astros fan my girlfriend can attest to that.
Speaker 2:She was there. She was standing there watching me try and FaceTime you and be like, hey yo, can you say what's up to my boy? He's a big fan. And they were like nah, fuck you.
Speaker 1:I don't mean to cuss like that, but that's what they said. Like John was like y'all mind saying what's up to my boy and I'm on FaceTime with him and they're just like nah. And then one of the dudes in the bullpen like the bullpen catcher's, like like, bro, you're a fucking triple of the minor league teams.
Speaker 2:They're beating the El Paso Chihuahuas, who are a good minor league team at that. You know what I mean. So like not having a pitcher that you could call up is crazy.
Speaker 1:Yeah, speaking of call-ups. But speaking of call-ups, this is a guy I haven't got to talk about yet.
Speaker 2:Ronel Blanco. Ronel Blanco, that was for the Astros. That was pretty crazy. Gets called up.
Speaker 1:The dude's young Never pitched in an MLB game before.
Speaker 2:Never.
Speaker 1:Played a little bit of spring training. Pitched fairly well. This year was his first time even coming into spring training Pitched decent in spring training. Comes into his first MLB start, Throws a no-hitter Dude, no-no Through nine innings. Throws a no-hitter All Nine innings. That was a no-hitter All the way through the game no hits Wild.
Speaker 2:That was so early in the season is what's crazy that?
Speaker 1:was in the first two weeks of the season. He's two or three weeks in the season.
Speaker 2:He's that good he is. He's the only like outside of Christian Javier or, you know, verlander's doing good.
Speaker 1:Verlander's been pitching well. Verlander even pitched well the other day For the Astros. He pitched very well I think it was six innings and gave up three hits in one run, which is incredible. And the Astros go on to lose the game like two to nothing. Your bats have to get hot if you're playing baseball.
Speaker 2:The Mariners are in the same situation.
Speaker 1:Let me say something. Lsu Tigers, for example. No disrespect, we were good pitching or fairly well situation. Let me say something lsu tigers, for example. But look, we were, no disrespect. We were good pitching, or fairly well pitching, all year.
Speaker 2:Our bats couldn't get going when we'd have the bases loaded, no outs and nothing dude with fly out with you know, I mean at the in the dirt.
Speaker 1:Like ridiculous these guys in the SEC tournament. They're lighting it up, have put their thinking caps on. Thank you, and they're first of all, bro. If anybody watched the South Carolina game from May 25th, which is the day we're recording, Right, this on Saturday.
Speaker 2:Y'all will understand.
Speaker 1:That was probably one of the most BS calls I've ever seen with the balk, not a balk.
Speaker 2:Not a balk, not a balk. We were watching it live.
Speaker 1:No, Not a balk BS call and if he's stealing home.
Speaker 2:You can't balk if he's stealing home.
Speaker 1:And we still go on to walk it off in the bottom of the inning. Shout out, steven Milam.
Speaker 2:What a dog, bro. I'm telling you, I told you he's from Las Cruces. He's from Las Cruces. He's from Las Cruces, not far from El Paso. I know where he went to high school.
Speaker 1:I know some people that went to high school with him. He's a dog he's tiny, he's small, he's not very big. When Milam came up to bat I was like, okay, I could see him gapping the ball. Good enough to be able to get the guy on first round of the score.
Speaker 1:Takes a yard dude, like like first or second pitch of the ab. Just gone, gone, dude. Like I knew off the bat. Whenever the, whenever the left fielder and the center fielder both turned their backs and then they kind of started slowing down a little bit, I was like yo.
Speaker 2:It's crazy, though even the game, baby, goodbye even the lsu game from a couple nights ago. Braswellaswell steps up. You know what I mean. Guys are just stepping up Also against South Carolina. His old team, his former team Exactly, and I mean guys are just stepping up left and right, right when we need them to in the SEC tournament and getting ready to go to a regional.
Speaker 2:Right when we need them Absolutely. They're up against the wall and they're up against the wall, and that's going to be the best. That's where you need to be. Yeah, no doubt about it.
Speaker 1:No doubt about it Before we end it. I think we're about to wrap up here in just a moment. What was the name of that golfer today? Grayson Murray. Unfortunately, today, the very sad news came around about Grayson. Murray. He passed away after feeling kind of sick and a little ill.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he was playing this week.
Speaker 1:Swab Invitational the Swab Challenge, the Swab Challenge.
Speaker 2:It just very sad news and he was look, I had just told my girlfriend about it. She asked, like who is he? And he he had his PGA Tour card back when he debuted in 2016 or 2017. He lost it, goes back to the Corn Fairy, finishes high on the Corn Fairy money list, gets his tour card back and then he gets in a good spot and he was a very big advocate of helping people get clean. He struggled with drug and alcohol abuse and depression big time and he's a very big advocate of helping people get better. He was Some of the stuff that I had seen. It was rumored that he had committed suicide. I hope that's not the case, but that is very sad to see.
Speaker 1:Either way, man for a 30-year-old man, bro, that's the 56th best golfer in the entire world.
Speaker 2:Right, that's such a hard a common household name on many tour events that you see who goes out and plays well and grinds every day to make a living. Um, because I know he did have a wife and I know I I do believe he had kids um, having to leave how to having to leave them behind is it's tragic and it's sad. So talk to somebody if you're ever in that position and you guys are listening.
Speaker 1:Talk to somebody. I mean, let somebody listen. If nothing else, dm us. We'll never. We'll never be the word of it. If you got a dm to green, check guys and you just something's going wrong it's sad it's always better like. One thing that men struggle with is is speaking up whenever something's wrong, and I can attest to that myself. I'm sure john who can say the same thing talk to somebody.
Speaker 1:Man, like you don't have to go to a therapist, you you can. Some people may think, oh man, if I go to the therapist I'm a little bitch or something like no, it's not like that, it's not like. Like, if you're struggling, like, go see somebody, bro, like or talk to somebody, just have somebody listening in there like there, there is a purpose. I agree there is a purpose for everybody out there and, with that being said, I hope everybody enjoyed listening to this episode yeah absolutely one of the green chat guys.
Speaker 1:Again, follow us on instagram at green chat guys. Absolutely, nala, get up, get up, get up, get up, up, get up, get up, look, look.
Speaker 2:Look, look, look, get on the camera, get on the camera. I think she can say there we go, there we go, there we go. Look, that's our mascot. Look at the mascot right there.
Speaker 1:Nala, what an incredible little puppy right. What an incredible dog, look, I just you being by my side.
Speaker 2:Thank you, Charlie. Thank you for having me. I'm excited to keep recording and keep being on a roll son.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we do have one of our first guests that we're going to have on. We kind of got it lined up now.
Speaker 2:Yeah, absolutely so. I'm very excited to bring that to you guys. Yeah, we're going to have him on soon here in the next.
